Welcome to TV Garth!

Ever since I was a kid, I loved antennas and TV reception. It was always a thrill to hook up an antenna and see what stations I could get, and see if I could pick up anything from a far distance. With the transition to digital broadcasting happening, my love for OTA (over the air) reception came back and this blog will focus on what channels I'm able to receive via antenna from my home just outside of Toronto, Canada. Plus there may be occasional commentaries on shows that I see while adjusting my reception.

Reception Reports: Jan. 16, 2010 Part 1 Holy Toledo, It's South Bend, Indiana! (With lots of Ohio and Michigan!)

The INCREDIBLE tropo of Mid-January continued with a set of pics so large I had to split it in half! This was my adventure receiving TV stations from Chicago, IL / Cleveland, OH / Akron, OH / South Bend, IN / Detroit, MI / Kalamazoo, MI / Lansing, MI / Flint, MI / Bowling Green, OH and Toldeo, OH on Jan. 16, 2010 from my home in Markham, Ontario, Canada. Chicago's WMAQ (at 446.25 miles away) stayed in during the early morning, and Cleveland rolled in during the afternoon. But what shocked me was my first reception of stations from South Bend, Indiana later in the day (I had never received that state before!) Even more shocking was getting Lansing, MI's WLNS over top of CITS, a semi-local analog channel from Hamilton, Ontario. I also managed to snag Detroit's WTVS on RF43 over top of Buffalo, NY's WNED! The reception was on fire, and I caught stations from all over Ohio and Michigan. (South Bend, IN stayed solid for much of the night too!) This set features newscasts from WNDU, WSBT, and WLNS! (Lots of awesome local commercials too!) Distances provided are approximate.
