Greetings TV Garth readers! Here’s a look back at all the over-the-air TV mayhem viewed at my new home in Markham, Ontario, Canada from the later half of September 2017! (I now live on one of the upper floors of a high-rise, which greatly enhances reception!) Wisconsin was back, plus Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Upstate New York and more! Sept. 11, 2017:
- Buffalo, NY, 2.1 WGRZ (RF33)...Lydia Dominick got right 2 the NBC Prime Preview!
- Buffalo, NY, 7.1 WKBW (RF38)...I was an Eyewitness to Katie Morse, Ed Drantch and Andy Parker's News that morning!
- Erie, PA, 35.2 WBEP (RF16)...Kevin James became the King of many Queens when he downed a few beers and rolled around in his boxers!
- Erie, PA, 35.1 WSEE (RF16)...Matt Knoedler looked as concerned as I did about the future of Perkins in Edinboro! (It's tradition for my pals and I to eat at the West Lake Road location during Drenched Fur!)
WSEE's line up Phil'd my heart with joy!
The Outlook was good with John Stehlin, Amanda Post and John Lydic on Erie News Now!
- South Bend, IN, 22.1 WSBT (RF22)...Tire'd of wheely bad customer care? Let Lindsey Beer intoxicate you with the services of Monteith's Best-One!
- South Bend, IN, 16.1 WNDU (RF42)...I wish Hillary had taken over 2018!
- Erie, PA, 24.1 WJET (RF24)...Jill McCormick is fabulous and provided an amazing tour of WJET back in 2013!
Unfortunately, reception of JET 24 doesn't fly very high at my new place!
However, the signal did give a brief burst of clarity Right This Minute!
- Utica, NY, 2.1 WKTV (RF29)...WKTV is Where The News Comes First and where four different networks congregate!
- Mount Pleasant, MI, 14.1 WCMU (RF26)...Once again, WCMU's flagship transmitter was a Pleasant surprise, sneaking past WNYB's powerful signal!
- Racine, WI, 49.1 WMLW (RF48)...New Channel Alert...My Rules of Engagement with long distance reception flew out the window when Wisconsin appeared in my area again!
- Racine, WI, 49.4 TeleWI [WMLW] (RF48)...New Channel Alert...I was so flabbergasted, they sent an ambulance to revive me! (This was also my first catch of a Telemundo station!)

- Columbus, OH, 6.1 WSYX (RF48)...Marshall McPeek gave a revealing look at the First Warning forecast!
Jessica Ralston and Kurt Ludlow delivered Good Day Columbus!
- Utica, NY, 2.1 WKTV (RF29)...Al and Joe (from Joe Tahan's Furniture) can tackle me anytime they wish!
Jill Reale had a hand in that day's weather report!
- Detroit, MI, 4.1 WDIV (RF45)...Evrod Cassimy and Rhonda Walker rocked the Local 4 news desk! (Seriously...Evrod sings!)
NBC featured a series on "Girls Changing The World" Today!
- Utica, NY, 2.1 WKTV (RF29)...Katrina Smith and Jason Powles anchored NewsChannel 2 at Sunrise!
- Lorain, OH, 43.1 WUAB (RF28)...A pinch of Cleveland 19 News on 43 scraped into my neighborhood!
- Erie, PA, 35.1 WSEE (RF16)...Amanda Post was the Erie News Now anchor with the most!
- Cleveland, OH, 61.2 UNIMAS [WQHS] (RF34)...The mysteries of Laura involved a ciber-novio! Escándalo!
- Hamilton, ON, 11.1 CHCH (RF15)...Batman was back on CHCH, prompting me to dig out a photo of my adventures with the Batmobile circa 1988!

- Fonthill, ON, 42.1 CKVP (RF42)...Longtime anchor Jane Pritchard was at the helm of CTV News Barrie!
- Toledo, OH, 11.1 WTOL (RF11)...Jenna Lento and Andrew Kinsey were at the Center of WTOL's newscast!
- London, ON, 51.1 CHCH-DT-2 (RF51)...Tim Bolen, Annette Hamm and Brian Wood anchored Morning Live!
- Rochester, NY, 31.1 WUHF (RF28)...Alexis Arnold, Jennifer Johnson and Doug Emblidge made it a Good Day in Rochester!
Former WHAM/WROC anchor Rachel Barnhart was running for Rochester mayor that year! Check out her engaging Facebook page, Twitter and the Rochester For All site!
Norma Holland is awesome and was a delight to meet during my tour of WHAM back in 2013!
- Buffalo, NY, 17.1 WNED (RF43)...Genius by Stephen Hawking wasn't a fancy cologne, but a PBS series challenging folks to solve problems by thinking like the greatest minds of all time! (The one I saw got pretty surreal when a gaggle of people ran out wearing masks of the episode's participants!)

- Erie, PA, 35.1 WSEE (RF16)...I was happy to SEE that Erie had a Comicon!
Sept. 15, 2017:
- Erie, PA, 35.2 WBEP (RF16)...Kara Coleman and Mark Soliday anchored Erie News Now!
- Cleveland, OH, 61.1 WQHS (RF34)...Watching El Grito De México on an American station floating across the Canadian border felt like a wonderful antidote to the disgusting xenophobia creeping up that year.
The whole event looked fabulosa...super super fabulosa!

- Buffalo, NY, 17.3 KIDs [WNED] (RF43)...Peg + Cat also soothed my soul with an adventure involving a female president voiced by Sandra Oh!

- Rochester, NY, 8.1 WROC (RF45)...Bike safety rolled through the news cycle with Mark Gruba and Allison Warren!

Rochester Idol was music to my ears! (The contest was a tie-in to the new American Idol season on ABC!)
- Akron, OH, 55.1 WBNX (RF30)...This Last Man Standing promo featured WBNX's new slogan "We're Better Together"!
Sept. 21, 2017:
- Detroit, MI, 4.1 WDIV (RF45)...Devin Scillian, Karen Drew and Jermont Terry tackled complex issues!
One Way Or Another, Blondie was bound to appear on Late Night With Seth Meyers! (I caught Blondie's bee-utiful tour stop in Toronto with Garbage a couple of months earlier!)

- Syracuse, NY, 3.1 WSTM (RF24)...Matt Stevens and Niko Tamurian cut through the fog on Today In CNY!
- Rochester, NY, 8.1 WROC (RF45)...However, Josh Nichols was blocked by Jose! (No way, you say?)
- Syracuse, NY, 68.1 WSYT (RF19)...I'm guessing Toronto's TVO was off the air when FOX 68 slipped through with this promo for Mom!
WSYT's ID had been revamped since the last time I caught the station!
- Syracuse, NY, 68.2 CoziTV [WSYT] (RF19)...I loved Cozi-ing up to WSYT while TVO was in the Shadows!
- Erie, PA, 35.1 WSEE (RF16)...Mike Ruzzi was live on 35!
- Johnstown, PA, 6.1 WJAC (RF34)...Jordan Conigliaro lit up the stadium on WJAC!
- Pittsburgh, PA, 11.1 WPXI (RF48)...I was happy to report that Jennifer Tomazic and 11 Morning News can still make it to my new home!
Trisha Pittman, Joe Arena, Katharine Amenta and Scott Harbaugh also appeared in WPXI's Morning News promo!
- Erie, PA, 12.1 WICU (RF12)...Will & Grace was coming back on NBC!
Sept. 23, 2017:
- Utica, NY, 20.1 WUTR (RF30)...Since 2009, the Sun has shone brightly whenever Central New York stations visit! Todd Caputo and Kaylea Nixon motored through a selection of vehicles for sale!
Sept. 24, 2017:
- Woodstock, ON, 31.1 CITY-DT-2 (RF31)...Funny How? featured Kliph Nesteroff interviewing LGBT comedians such as Ash Fisher and Irene Tu!
Nesteroff also talked to Ian Harvie and Alex English!
Sept. 25, 2017:
- Rochester, NY, 31.1 WUHF (RF28)...Viewers heart Scott Hetsko and he returned the favor by promoting Donate Life Finger Lakes after his own need for a transplant!
- Buffalo, NY, 2.1 WGRZ (RF33)...The cast of Will & Grace appeared on Today to chat about their upcoming revival!
Sept. 27, 2017:
- Watertown, NY, 50.1 WWTI (RF21)...Dan Cummings, Jennifer Sanders and Kate Thornton brought viewers The Morning News from WSYR!
Andrew Donovan left WKTV and became a reporter for WSYR in 2013! (Check out my interview with him from 2010!)
- Syracuse, NY, 3.1 WSTM (RF24)...Peter Hall gave a hot Summery of all the warm weather taking place!
- Rochester, NY, 8.1 WROC (RF45)...Elijah Westbrook reported from the revamped "Rochester First" area of the newsroom!
- Syracuse, NY, 3.1 WSTM (RF24)...Niko Tamurian never lets the Crunch get to him...at least until he's covering the hockey team!
Sept. 30, 2017:
- Detroit, MI, 4.1 WDIV (RF45)...It was a sign of progress that Fox Chevrolet of Rochester Hills was using ASL in their commercials!

Welcome to TV Garth!
Ever since I was a kid, I loved antennas and TV reception. It was always a thrill to hook up an antenna and see what stations I could get, and see if I could pick up anything from a far distance. With the transition to digital broadcasting happening, my love for OTA (over the air) reception came back and this blog will focus on what channels I'm able to receive via antenna from my home just outside of Toronto, Canada. Plus there may be occasional commentaries on shows that I see while adjusting my reception.
