Jan. 4, 2014:
- Buffalo, NY, 23.2 Bounce [WNLO] (RF32.2)...The Bounce logo had never been more appropriately placed!
Feb. 1, 2014:
- Buffalo, NY, 23.2 Bounce [WNLO] (RF32.2)...Forgive or Forget dealt with the subtle topic, "My Grandkid Dresses Like A Tramp!"
Given the subject, a fashion segment (complete with a "Vogue" knock off playing) seemed sort of counterproductive.
The style sassafrass was showing off her nails, but it almost looked like she was saying, "Up yours grandma!"
The solution to the provocative attire? Dress the young lady like a severe Winter storm is on the way!
Feb. 2, 2014:
- Buffalo, NY, 29.1 WUTV (RF14)...My family and I watched "The Big Game" on FOX with uninterrupted American ads! (This was a few years before the CRTC relaxed rules to allow U.S. commercials from the game to appear on Canadian cable.)
One memorable commercial had Radio Shack trying to shed their old school image as a gaggle of retro celebs roamed through!
Feb. 6, 2014:
- Buffalo, NY, 23.2 Bounce [WNLO] (RF32.2)...The excellent documentary, In the Shadow of Hollywood: Race Movies and the Birth of Black Cinema, showcased historical films that had been lost for decades!
Feb. 12 & 16, 2014:
- Buffalo, NY, 2.1 WGRZ (RF33) and Toronto, ON, 5.1 CBLT (RF20)...Both NBC and CBC brought the Winter Olympics to viewers, though the games were marred by problems regarding LGBT rights issues.
Feb. 10, 24 & March 12, 2014:
- Buffalo, NY, 7.1 WKBW (RF38) and 2.1 WGRZ (RF33)...Gay athletes Michael Sam, Jason Collins and Billy Eichner were all in the news in early 2014! (I count Eichner in the trio because he runs a lot on his show.)
Feb. 17, 2014:
- Toronto, ON, 41.1 CIII (RF41)...Global showed a fabulous retro-tastic promo celebrating their 40th Anniversary!
March 20, 2014:
- Buffalo, NY, 2.1 WGRZ (RF33)...I got mono, landed in the hospital and vividly remember watching these stories from my room at Markham-Stouffville just before getting discharged. (I took these pics at home when they were repeating at night. Side note, the care at Markham-Stouffville Hospital is amazing!)
March 23, 2014:
- Buffalo, NY, 4.1 WIVB (RF39)...For me "March Madness" wasn't just basketball, but an appropriate title for my recovery period!
March 26, 2014:
- Buffalo, NY, 2.1 WGRZ (RF33)...When I was questioning my sexuality as a teenager, I had a huge crush on Jonathan Silverman and even created a webpage about him! So I was excited to see him on Law & Order: SVU, even though he was playing a creepazoid.
March 31, 2014:
- London, ON, 10.1 CFPL (RF10)...I was happy to see CFPL's local newscast now branded as "CTV News London"!
- Kitchener, ON, 13.1 CKCO (RF13)...CKCO also followed the trend, with "CTV News Kitchener" in the corner!
- Erie, PA, 12.1 WICU (RF12) with Josh Harrison of the Pittsburgh Pirates!
- Cleveland, OH, 61.1 WQHS (RF34) with Univision's Enrique Acevedo!
- Ann Arbor, MI, 31.1 ION [WPXD] (RF50)...This was my first time catching WPXD after their move to RF50 and I snagged a station ID too!
- Detroit, MI, 4.1 WDIV (RF45)...I was all 4 promos for WDIV's local news and Late Night with Seth Meyers!
WDIV also advertised the Tilted Kilt, which clearly aims to keep patrons abreast of the latest specials. (I was surprised to learn they have locations in Canada too.)
April 1, 2014:
- Buffalo, NY, 7.1 WKBW (RF38)...These viewers were Happy to see ABC's Robin Roberts! (Josh Elliott also appeared in some of these promos, but was quickly edited out when he left the network.)
In response to the question, "Hey! What's Going On?" Sara Gilbert and Linda Perry announced they got married!
April 5, 2014:
- Buffalo, NY, 23.2 Bounce [WNLO] (RF32.2)...A young Janet Jackson appeared on Soul Train alongside host Don Cornelius!
April 6, 2014:

- Rochester, NY, 21.1 WXXI (RF16)...American Promise was promoted alongside a local initiative from WXXI!
April 7, 2014:
- Rochester, NY, 31.1 WUHF (RF28)...The new Fox Rochester graphics debuted in 2014 after they left WROC and became a sister station to WHAM.
Adam Chodak and Doug Emblidge were on hand for Good Day Rochester!
April 17, 2014:
- Buffalo, NY, 7.1 WKBW (RF38)...Good Morning featured Desiree Wiley, Tiffany Lundberg and Cole Heath!
April 20, 2014:

- Rochester, NY, 31.1 WUHF (RF28)...It was a Happy Easter with Kelsie Smith and Jennifer Lee!

Boris Cabrera ("Marco") became a personal trainer a few years after the show ended. I definitely suggest checking out what he's been up to!

I actually spotted Matt attending a screening of the film at Toronto's Inside Out Festival that same month!
Speaking of "The Normal Heart," the talented and handsome Adam B. Shapiro also stars in the film! He is fabulous and I highly recommend checking out his YouTube Channel and Website!
